The Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti region has reactivated and inaugurated its Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) under the auspices of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE).
The IPDC serves as a unifying body made up of various stakeholders to promote peace and to resolve any misunderstanding before, during and after the elections as well as serve as a platform for dialogue for all political parties to address all pertinent issues that may threaten the peace of the Mampong Constituency and Ghana by extension.
The 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections slated for 7th December, 2024 is expected to help deepen the country’s democracy and add to its credential as a peaceful nation that believes and practices participatory democracy. Transparency, Fairness, Peaceful, and Free nature of the process is essential to contribute to ensure a credible elections.
Towards this end, a lot of things is being done in the Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti region and the reactivation of IPDC is part of the structures that have been put in place to promote and ensure peaceful 2024 general elections.

The IPDC meeting held on Friday 30th August, 2024 discussed ethical behavior that could promote and ensure peaceful elections
The stakeholders included the Information Services Department (ISD), Commission for Humana Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), National Investigation Bureau (NIB), the Ghana Police Service (GPS), Political Parties, Christian and Muslim Councils, Traditional Leaders, the Electoral Commission (EC), and People with Disabilities (PWDs) as well as the Mampong Municipal Assembly (MMA) and the media.
Speaking at the reactivation and inauguration meeting, the Mampong Municipal Police Commander, ASP/ Mr. Ismael Stanley Adjei reminded members that elections, like many other activities, is guided and organized under the law. He, therefore, called on electorates and people who take part in the conduct of the elections to abide by the rules that govern and regulate the elections.
He warned that the security services especially the police would deal ruthlessly with people who violate the laws, adding that, adequate security arrangements have been made to fish out perpetrators and people who would foment violence to deliberately disturb the electoral process.
On his part, the Chairman of the Local Council of Churches, Mampong, Rev. Kwadwo Amoako Wiredu, urged all stakeholders in the elections to play their respective and collective roles effectively; fairly and with good conscience. That, he said would help contribute to the peaceful 2024 elections the country is yearning for and thereby help strengthen the general peace Ghana wants to sustain after the elections.
Rev. Amoako-Wiredu, who was elected by members as the Chairman of the Inter-Party Dialogue Committee, urged all political party executives to demonstrate brotherliness among themselves and encourage party members to practice same.
He implored the political party leaders to demonstrate strong leadership and responsiveness in ensuring circumspection in their comments and utterances so as not to create unnecessary political tension and inflame passion and political violence
He further urged political leaders to demonstrate strong leadership and responsiveness as well as advise their party members, supporters and sympathizers to refrain from acts that have the tendency to cause chaos and violence in the country before, during and after the elections.
In his closing comments, the Municipal Director of NCCE, Mampong, Mr. Kwasi Otchere said Ghanaians have witnessed several peaceful elections in the past and that he was expectant that Ghana would experience same this time round. He, however, implored Ghanaian electorates not only to participate fully in the elections but should do that in orderly and a more peaceful manner, adding that they should appreciate that elections is just a process and opportunity to choose leaders through a legal process to govern the country.
The IPDC meeting which was organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), is part of its programme to sensitize the citizenry on the need to participate freely and peacefully in the forthcoming general elections.
