The Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region has continued to remain peaceful after the EC Chairperson and Returning Officer for the Presidential Election, Jean Adokwei Mensah official declaration of the Presidential candidate of the NDC and former President H.E John Dramani Mahama as the winner in the 2024 Presidential election and President-elect. Cladding in the NDC party colors, the supporters danced their hearts out with campaign music loudly played from public address system mounted in the party-colored car amid blowing of horns and vuvuzelas and singing along to the tunes.
The jubilant supporters caused no chaos and destruction of life and property.
There is peaceful atmosphere in the constituency.
This peace was nearly tainted on Tuesday December 10, 2024 when some supposedly NDC supporters on motorbikes stormed the Mampong Municipal Assembly and posted the campaign posters of the NDC Parliamentary Candidate (PC), Yakubu Issifu and now President-elect ,H.E John Dramani Mahama on some of the Assembly vehicle on site including DRIP machines , saying “our party has come to power”.
They, however, did not enter any office to lock them up or destroy any property.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Thomas Appiah Kubi and the Municipali Coordinator Director , Mumuni Mohammed were not available at the time of the incident.
Apart from this incident, there has been no reported case of post-election violence after the December polls.
The Constituency is peaceful and the Assembly is calm and offices remain opened for official business.
