Mampong, Ghana – The Mampong Food Festival, held at the forecourt of the Mampong Municipal Assembly, brought together students from various schools in the community to showcase their culinary skills and creativity. The event, which took place on Thursday, March 26, 2025, was a celebration of food, culture, and community.

The festival featured four (4) schools namely, Oduko Boatemaa SHS, St. Monica’s SHS, St. Joseph’s Seminary SHS and Amaniampong SHS, each presenting their unique dishes and culinary traditions. From traditional drinks like Asaana, Pito, Lamugin (chilled ginger), Sobolo, Nsafufuo (Palm Wine) and Ghanaian cuisine like Fufu, ɛto, Tuo Zaafi and Banku, the variety of food on display was impressive.

“We wanted to provide a platform for young chefs to showcase their talents and learn from each other,” said, organizer of the event. “The response has been overwhelming, and we’re thrilled to see the creativity and enthusiasm of the students.”

The festival included various competitions, including a cooking contest, a food styling competition, and a quiz on food safety and nutrition. Students from the winning schools received prizes and certificates, with the overall best school receiving the coveted “Golden Whisk” award.

The Mampong Food Festival was more than just a celebration of food; it was also an opportunity for cultural exchange and community building. Students from different schools mingled and shared their culinary traditions, promoting cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. “The festival has been a wonderful experience for our students,” said, a teacher from one of the participating schools. “It’s not just about the food; it’s about building relationships and learning from each other.”

The Mampong Food Festival was a resounding success, showcasing the culinary talents of students from various schools in the community. The event promoted cultural exchange, community building, and creativity, and organizers are already looking forward to next year’s edition.
