In a groundbreaking effort to enhance openness and accountability in government institutions, the Right to Information (RTI) Officer at the Mampong Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, Ebenezer Bannor organised a sensitization program for staff at the Business Resource Centre (BRC). The rendezvous held on Thursday 9th April, 2025 aimed at equipping the staff on their right to access public information.
The sensitization program emphasized the significance of the Right to Information (RTI) law in promoting democratic practices, encouraging citizens to demand transparency and accountability from public officials. By fostering active civic participation, the initiative led to a more informed and engaged deliberations, ultimately enhancing local governance responsiveness and accountability.

During the interactive session, the workers displayed a high level of interest, engaging in meaningful discussions and raising concerns regarding potential challenges in accessing public information. Some of the workers inquired about the timeframe for receiving requested information, the role of public institutions in facilitating access, and the possible consequences or sanctions for institutions that fail to comply with the law. The Right to Information Officer addressed those issues comprehensively, reinforcing the importance of accountability in public service delivery and the legal mechanisms available for redress when requests are unjustifiably denied


The session concluded on a high note, with the workers expressing gratitude for the clear and accessible information shared.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Bannor urged the staff to actively leverage the RTI Law, emphasizing the vital role of public engagement in fostering transparency and accountability in governance.
