The RTI sensitization program empowered citizens by highlighting the law’s role in promoting democratic practices, transparency, and accountability. By fostering active civic participation, the initiative enabled informed decision-making, ultimately enhancing local governance responsiveness and accountability and strengthening democracy through citizen-led demands for openness and transparency from public officials.

During the interactive session, citizens actively engaged in discussions, raising pertinent questions and concerns about accessing public information, including the timeframe for receiving requested information, the role of public institutions in facilitating access, and potential consequences for non-compliant institutions. The Right to Information Officer provided detailed clarification, emphasizing the legal framework governing RTI requests, the obligations of public institutions and the available redress mechanisms for denied requests, thereby underscoring the importance of accountability and transparency in public service delivery and empowering citizens to exercise their right to information.
