The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Mampong in the Ashanti Region, Hon.Yakubu Issifu has reassured the people in the Mampong Municipality of his commitment to provide strategic leadership towards ensuring improvement in their wellbeing.

The MCE gave this assurance on Friday 7th November, 2025 at a stakeholders engagement organised  at the forecourt of the Assembly’s administration block.

It would be that on the occasion of his confirmation on July 24, 2025, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Yakubu Issifu delivered an acceptance speech wherein he expressed his sincere appreciation to the President for the trust and confidence reposed in him to serve the people of Mampong municipality.

He also pledged to devote himself assiduously to discharge his duties working with unwavering dedication and commitment to drive progress, prosperity and improved well-being for the Mampong Municipality. He further underscored his administration’s resolve to remain accountable and transparent undertaking regular stakeholder engagements with staff and community members to also promote information sharing and feedbacks.

Specifically, he assured that within the first 100 days of his tenure he would convene inclusive meetings with stakeholders, comprising staff and community members to provide a comprehensive account of the initiatives undertaken, progress achieved and challenges encountered thereby ensuring that the citizenry remains informed and engaged throughout his term in office

The Friday’s event was a fulfilment of his promise. In his report, the Hon. MCE highlighted a notable achievement within his first 100 days in office wherein he had successfully overseen the renovation the Municipal Administration Block. This facility previously an aesthetically displeasing structure had been a source of concern for both staff and members of the public as it had fallen into a state of disrepair reflecting years of neglect and lack of attention.

The Hon. MCE lamented that the deplorable condition of the building has not only detracted from the overall ambiance of the municipality but had also critically had a stifling effect on staff productivity and innovation thereby undermining the optimal performance of municipal functions. He expressed satisfaction that the renovation of this critical infrastructure now provided a conducive work environment, conducive to fostering creativity, efficiency and enhanced service delivery.

He revealed that the Municipal Assembly has undertaken a significant investment in the procurement of essential office equipment and supplies including color printers, photocopiers, desktop computers and laptops. This strategic initiative was necessitated by the previous inadequacy of these critical resources which had posed a considerable challenge to officers and as a result hindered the efficient delivery of services.

The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive announced a series of forthcoming projects which have reached the procurement stage with tenders advertised in local dailies. These initiatives include the construction of a 2-Unit KG Block with ancillary facilities at Sataso, a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound at Nintin/Hwediem, the drilling of 7 mechanized and 4 handpump boreholes in various communities, the supply of 2000 dual desks and 3000 mono desks, the provision of 5 refuse containers, and the renovation of the MCE’s bungalow all aimed at enhancing infrastructure, education, healthcare and sanitation services within the municipality.

The Honorable Municipal Chief Executive highlighted ongoing legacy projects including the completion of a 6-Unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Kofiase Abukari Islamic Primary School and a Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in various communities.

Regarding sanitation he reported that the assembly has organized two major clean-up exercises in Mampong targeting lorry stations and markets. He urged Assembly members to participate in the National Sanitation Day (NSD) observed on the first Saturday of every month to promote environmental cleanliness and orderliness throughout the municipality.

In his key note address, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, commended the MCE for Mampong for his exceptional leadership and tireless efforts describing him as a dynamic leader. Following a regional tour to evaluate the performance of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Dr. Amoakohene expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved in Mampong noting that the MCE’s accomplishments were outstanding.

He also used the occasion to mention a number of developmental projects in the area of school, health, road infrastructure and safety and security whereby funding has been secured and other relevant documentation concluded paving way for their commencement in the Mampong municipality in the shortest possible time.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene also mentioned that the construction of a  24-Hour Economy Market in Mampong  is to  be commenced in a couple of days’ time describing the project as an all-encompassing multi-purpose that would create massive job opportunities for the teeming unemployed as well as boost the local economy and promote the general well-being of the people of Mampong.

He added that the one stop market project would among other things include 132 lockable stores and 132 stores, police post, fire service station, community information Centre, crèche, washing and toilet facilities and banking hall.

He further mentioned some other developmental projects which had been earmarked for implementation for the benefit of the people in the region.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to alleviating the economic hardships faced by Ghanaians. To this end, he highlighted a range of initiatives currently being implemented including the “Big Push” programme, Mahama Care and the Feed Ghana initiative aimed at driving economic growth improving healthcare and enhancing food security thereby contributing to the overall well-being of the citizenry.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene announced that the Nkoko Nketenkete project was scheduled to be officially launched on Wednesday, November 12 2025 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. He provided details on the project’s benefits including the allocation of birds to individuals and support for large-scale poultry farmers encouraging citizens to seize this opportunity to enhance their livelihoods and contribute to the local poultry industry’s growth. He used the occasion to urge all residents of Mampong to embrace government policies and programmes and avail themselves for them.

The event was attended by esteemed dignitaries including Nananom (traditional leaders), staff from St Monica’s Senior High School and Amaniampong Senior High School, representatives from security agencies, assembly members, heads of department and staff of the Mampong Municipal Assembly, past and present constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and members of the general public and the media.
