The Mampong Municipal Assembly has successfully held its first monthly sanitation exercise in the year 2026, marking a renewed commitment to environmental cleanliness and public health within the municipality.

The exercise, which brought together residents, assembly staff, and local stakeholders, saw active participation from the Municipal Chief Executive, Yakubu Yussi, and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene. Their presence underscored the importance of sanitation as a shared responsibility and a key priority for local development.

The clean-up exercise covered major streets, public spaces, drainage systems, and market areas within Mampong. Participants engaged in sweeping, desilting choked gutters, clearing refuse dumps, and promoting proper waste disposal practices. The initiative is aimed at improving environmental conditions, preventing disease outbreaks, and enhancing the overall appearance of the municipality.

Addressing participants, Hon. Yakubu Yussi emphasized the need for sustained community involvement in maintaining cleanliness. He noted that the success of the sanitation exercise depends largely on the cooperation of residents and urged all citizens to make sanitation a daily habit rather than a periodic activity.

In his remarks, Dr. Frank Amoakohene commended the Assembly and residents for their enthusiasm and commitment. He highlighted the role of sanitation in safeguarding public health and called for continuous collaboration between government, communities, and stakeholders to achieve lasting results.

The monthly sanitation exercise forms part of a broader strategy by the Assembly to promote a cleaner and healthier environment. Residents have been encouraged to actively participate in subsequent exercises and to uphold proper sanitation practices in their homes and communities.

The successful organization of this first exercise sets a strong foundation for future clean-up activities and reinforces the municipality’s commitment to sustainable environmental management and improved quality of life for all.
