
On Thursday 14th May, 2026, The Mampong Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has organized a road safety and driver education programme for drivers within the Municipality.

The programme aimed at educating drivers on best practices in road safety, discipline, and adherence to good driving standards was spearheaded by the Human Resource Manager Kwabena Menkah, and supported by The Municipal Coordinating Director Ms Esther Abaching and The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Yussifu Yakubu to sensitize the drivers on best transport practices to help reduce road accidents and promote safety on the roads.

During the training session, officials from the DVLA headed by Mr Boroh Blaise Angzueng took the participants through important topics including defensive driving, observance of road signs and traffic regulations, proper vehicle maintenance, speed control, and the dangers associated with reckless driving and drunk driving.
The facilitators also emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and respect for pedestrians and other road users. Drivers were encouraged to maintain high ethical standards and ensure that their conduct on the roads reflects responsibility and care for human lives.

Speaking at the programme, The Municipal Coordinating Director commended the DVLA for the initiative and urged participants to apply the knowledge acquired in their daily activities. She noted that road safety is a shared responsibility and called on all drivers to contribute towards reducing road crashes within the Municipality and the country at large.

The Drivers on the other hand expressed appreciation to the Assembly and DVLA for organizing the educational programme, describing it as timely and beneficial in improving their knowledge and driving skills.
The programme formed part of the Assembly’s efforts to promote safety, responsible transportation, and continuous capacity building for drivers operating within the Municipality.
