The Mampong Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with key stakeholders, successfully organised a two-day National Clean-Up Exercise across the Municipality on Friday, 10th July and Saturday, 11th July 2026.
The exercise formed part of the Government of Ghana’s commitment to promoting environmental cleanliness, preventing sanitation-related diseases, and fostering a healthy and safe environment for residents following the floods across the nation.
The municipal-wide exercise witnessed the active participation of residents from various communities, security agencies, Assembly Members, traditional authorities, Heads of Departments, staff of the Assembly, market women, transport unions, youth groups, sanitation workers, and other public and private sector workers. The broad participation demonstrated the shared commitment of stakeholders towards maintaining a clean and healthy Municipality.
Participants undertook extensive cleaning activities, including sweeping streets, desilting choked drains, clearing overgrown weeds, removing refuse from public spaces, markets, lorry parks, schools, and other strategic locations across the Municipality. The exercise also focused on improving the free flow of stormwater to reduce the risk of flooding during the rainy season.
Ahead of the exercise, the Mampong Municipal Assembly announced that participation was compulsory for all residents, underscoring the importance of collective responsibility in maintaining environmental cleanliness. The call received positive support as individuals and organized groups turned out in large numbers to contribute their quota towards the success of the exercise.
Officials of the Assembly expressed appreciation to all participants, particularly the security agencies and other workers who dedicated their time and effort to ensuring the success of the clean-up campaign. They commended residents for demonstrating a strong sense of civic responsibility and community spirit.
The Assembly further urged residents to sustain the gains made during the exercise by disposing of waste responsibly, keeping drains free from refuse, and making environmental sanitation a daily habit rather than an occasional activity.
The Mampong Municipal Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with communities and stakeholders to promote good sanitation practices and create a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient Municipality for the benefit of all.
