St. Monica’s Senior High School on Tuesday July 21, 2026, played host to two distinguished personalities whose visit marked a significant milestone in the school’s drive towards infrastructural and academic development. The Honourable Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry and Member of Parliament for Techiman North Constituency, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare together with the Municipal Chief Executive for Asante Mampong, Hon. Issifu Yakubu paid a courtesy call to the school. The visit was warmly received by the school management, staff, students and the entire St. Monica’s community.
The purpose of the courtesy call was twofold. First, it provided an opportunity for the Municipal Chief Executive to formally introduce himself to the school and to outline key development projects being undertaken by the Municipal Assembly that have direct relevance to education and youth development in Mampong. Second, it offered the Honourable Minister the platform to reconnect with her alma mater and to make a generous contribution towards the school’s ongoing efforts to modernize teaching and learning facilities.
In his address, Hon. Issifu Yakubu expressed appreciation to the management of St. Monica’s SHS for the excellent work being done in training young women who continue to distinguish themselves across the country and beyond. He noted that education remains a central pillar of the Assembly’s development agenda. The MCE outlined several key projects earmarked for the municipality with particular emphasis on those that support schools. These include the rehabilitation of school infrastructure, the improvement of sanitation facilities and the strengthening of partnerships between the Assembly and second cycle institutions to ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning. He assured the school that the Municipal Assembly would continue to prioritize initiatives that enhance academic performance and student welfare and he pledged the Assembly’s full cooperation in supporting any developmental programs that the school undertakes.

The highlight of the visit was the address and donation by Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare. In an emotionally charged and nostalgic address, the Minister described St. Monica’s SHS as the foundation of her personal and professional journey. She recounted her years as a student of the school and credited the values of discipline, hard work and service instilled in her at St. Monica’s for shaping her career in public service. She emphasized that giving back to the institution that nurtured her was both a responsibility and a privilege. As a demonstration of her commitment to the growth of the school, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare announced a donation of a cash amount of GHC 100,000.00 to support the school’s development fund. In addition, she presented a truckload of cement to the school to aid in the construction of a modern Information and Communication Technology laboratory. She explained that in today’s digital economy, access to modern ICT infrastructure is no longer optional but essential for equipping students with the skills required to compete globally. The new ICT lab, she noted, will provide students with practical exposure to technology, enhance digital literacy and prepare them for tertiary education and the world of work. She expressed confidence that the facility when completed will become a center of excellence for ICT training in the municipality and will benefit generations of St. Monica’s girls.

The Headmistress of St. Monica’s SHS on behalf of the school expressed profound gratitude to both dignitaries for their visit and generosity. She described the donations as timely and impactful particularly given the school’s pressing need for modern ICT facilities to complement government efforts. She assured the donors that the funds and materials would be used judiciously and transparently for the intended purpose and that the school would ensure the speedy commencement of the ICT lab project.
