The Mampong Municipal Assembly joined the rest of the country to celebrate Ghana’s 69th Independence Anniversary on March 6, 2026, under the national theme, “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope.” The celebration focused on promoting economic recovery, patriotism, and national unity among citizens.
The colourful event, held at the municipal parade grounds in Mampong, brought together traditional authorities, assembly members, heads of departments, security agencies, teachers, students, religious leaders, and members of the community to commemorate the historic occasion.
As part of the celebration, several schools and security services participated in a well-organized march past display which showcased discipline, unity, and national pride. Cultural performances and patriotic songs by school children also added excitement and meaning to the ceremony.
Addressing participants during the celebration, Hon. Yakubu Yussifu emphasized the need for citizens to remain united and committed towards the development of the nation despite current economic challenges. He noted that the theme for the anniversary serves as a call for all Ghanaians to contribute their quota towards rebuilding the economy and restoring hope among the people.
According to him, national development can only be achieved when citizens demonstrate hard work, discipline, honesty, and patriotism. He further encouraged the youth to take their education seriously and become responsible future leaders who will contribute positively to the growth of the country.
Hon. Yakubu Yussifu also commended teachers, parents, and security agencies for their continuous efforts in shaping and protecting society. He urged residents of the municipality to continue living in peace and harmony to ensure sustainable development within the area.
The celebration ended with awards presented to schools that excelled during the march past competition, while participants expressed appreciation for the successful organization of the event.
The 69th Independence Anniversary celebration in Mampong Municipality served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by Ghana’s forefathers and the collective responsibility of citizens to work together in building prosperity and restoring hope for future generations.
