On Saturday, 4th April 2026, the Mampong Municipal Assembly organized a massive clean-up exercise within the Mampong Township aimed at promoting environmental cleanliness and improving public health.
The exercise, which was headed by Municipal Environmental Health Officer (MEHO) Mr. Richmond Adam and supported by the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) Ms. Esther Abaching and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Yussifu Yakubu, brought together assembly staff, assembly members, traders, transport operators, youth groups, and residents who actively participated in cleaning major streets, gutters, market areas, and the lorry park within the municipality.

The exercise saw participants desilting choked gutters, sweeping streets, collecting refuse and clearing weeds from public places to ensure a cleaner and healthier environment. Sanitation improvement and convenience for commuters and drivers at the lorry park, a key transport hub in the township, were given special attention.
“Environmental sanitation is our topmost priority, and I want to urge the residents to help us to keep their environment clean at all times to help prevent sanitation-related diseases such as cholera and malaria,” Mr. Richmond Adam stressed.

During the exercise, the participants were commended by The MCE for their commitment and he called on the public to support initiatives geared towards improving cleanliness and public health in the Municipality.
Residents and transport operators expressed appreciation to the Assembly for organizing the exercise and pledged their support towards maintaining cleanliness within the township.

The clean-up exercise formed part of the Assembly’s commitment to promoting good sanitation practices and creating a safe and healthy environment for all residents of Mampong Municipality.
