Residents, commuters, and traders who rely on the busy Mampong–Ejura highway can now breathe a sigh of relief as the collapsed Sataso Bridge has finally been repaired and reopened to traffic.

The bridge, located along the important road connecting Asante Mampong, Ejura, Atebubu, Yeji and other communities, suffered severe damage after heavy rains on 19th May, 2026, flooding and collapsing the bridge. The collapse caused major transportation challenges, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded and disrupting the movement of goods and services in the Ashanti Region.

For months, commuters, commercial drivers, traders, and residents expressed concern over the dangerous state of the bridge and appealed to government authorities to take urgent action. The damaged bridge created heavy traffic congestion and affected economic activities, especially the transportation of food items from Ejura and nearby farming communities to markets in Mampong and Kumasi.

Following public concern and inspections by officials from the Ministry of Roads and Highways, Mampong Municipal Assembly and the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, reconstruction works were initiated to restore the road to normal use. Authorities assured residents that the bridge would be fixed to improve safety and ensure uninterrupted transportation on the highway.

The successful temporary reconstruction of the Sataso Bridge has now restored smooth movement of goods and services along the Mampong–Ejura road. Drivers and passengers can once again travel safely without fear or delays, while businesses and trading activities are expected to improve significantly.

Residents have welcomed the development and expressed appreciation to the government, engineers, the Municipal Assembly, the Regional Coordinating Council, for responding to the urgent infrastructure challenge. Many believe the rehabilitation of the bridge will help boost economic activities, improve road safety, and strengthen transportation links between Ashanti Region and the northern parts of Ghana.

The reopening of the bridge also highlights the importance of regular maintenance of road infrastructure to prevent future disasters and ensure the safety of road users at all times.
