The Department of Agriculture of the Mampong Municipal Assembly has held its Second Quarter Technical Review Meeting to assess agricultural activities undertaken during the quarter, evaluate field performance, and discuss strategies for improving service delivery to farmers across the municipality.
The meeting brought together Agricultural Extension Agents (AEAs) and departmental staff to review progress made in implementing agricultural programmes and interventions during the second quarter of the year.
During the meeting, each Agricultural Extension Agent delivered a presentation outlining the activities carried out within their respective operational areas. The presentations highlighted key achievements, including farmer education, advisory services, technology dissemination, field demonstrations, crop and livestock monitoring, and other extension activities aimed at improving agricultural productivity.
The Extension Agents also presented the major challenges confronting farmers in their operational areas. Among the issues raised were the effects of erratic weather conditions, pest and disease outbreaks, limited access to agricultural inputs, inadequate farm machinery, post-harvest losses, and other production constraints affecting agricultural output.
Following the presentations, participants engaged in extensive discussions to examine the identified challenges and explore practical interventions to address them. The deliberations focused on strengthening agricultural extension services, promoting climate-smart farming practices, improving access to quality inputs, enhancing farmer education, and fostering stronger collaboration among key stakeholders to improve agricultural production within the municipality.
The review meeting also provided an opportunity for officers to share experiences, lessons learned, and best practices from their respective operational areas. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with farmers and other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of government agricultural programmes and policies.
Speaking at the meeting, the leadership of the Department of Agriculture emphasized the importance of periodic technical review meetings in monitoring progress, identifying implementation gaps, and developing practical solutions to improve agricultural service delivery. The Department reiterated its commitment to supporting farmers through effective extension services and innovative agricultural interventions that will enhance food security, increase productivity, and improve livelihoods across the Mampong Municipality.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from all Agricultural Extension Agents to intensify farmer education, strengthen monitoring activities, and implement the agreed action points to address the challenges identified during the quarter.
